Jacqui’s fees include the provision of food and she now incorporates food preparation into her activities with the children.
“The children and I have been doing a revised version of the Jamie Oliver’s Food revolution. Teaching the children about healthy eating choices, about fresh fruit & vegetables their names, colors and how they are grown. Every week we choose a vegetable and cook something together for our lunch. This week was pumpkin soup.
The children helped with cutting up the pumpkin which I microwaved first for them to soften it. The children used real knifes “risky play” to cut up the pumpkin, helped place the pumpkin on the trays and into the oven. Once the pumpkin was cooked we scooped the pumpkin and placed it in the blender. Pumpkin soup was on the menu for lunch . Sam & Zavier told me it was yummy. It is amazing how much better food tastes when the children have been involved in the preparation”
