School Holidays are always a lot of fun at Family Day Care! These holidays Kylie Ford’s group of children had the opportunity to connect with the local community and visit the Equestrian Centre. The children learnt about the life of a horse, asking questions about what they ate, how they communicate, how fast they can run etc. The children also had a great time feeding and grooming the horses as they brushed them and fed them carrots and apples.
At Sonya Mears Family Day Care, the children were immersing themselves in the garden as they worked together to harvest the carrots they had grown. The children learnt about the life cycle of seeds and discussed their knowledge about bush tucker and the importance of recycling water. A great farm to plate experience developing understandings where food comes from as the children enjoyed munching their freshly picked carrots.
